The Thane Small Scale Industries Association
organized a Training
Programme on First-Aid, Occupational Safety, Health, Fire Safety & POSH
on 5th
March 2026 at TSSIA House, Wagle Industrial Estate, Thane, as
part of the National
Safety Week Celebration 2026 (4th–10th March). The programme
was conducted with the support of the Directorate of Industrial Safety and
Health and Fortis Hospitals.
National
Safety Week is celebrated across India to promote awareness about industrial
safety and workplace well-being. The theme for National Safety Day 2026,
declared by the National Safety Council,
is “Engage,
Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety.” The training
programme was organized to help industries strengthen safety practices and
create a culture of responsibility and preparedness at workplaces.
The programme
commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Bhavesh Maru, Hon. General Secretary - TSSIA,
who highlighted the importance of safety awareness and skill development in
ensuring secure industrial operations. The event was attended by distinguished
dignitaries including Mr. Girish Zalke, Chief Fire Officer, Thane Municipal Corporation
and Mr. Yasin Tadvi, In-charge of the
Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), who shared their
perspectives on emergency preparedness and industrial safety management.
A key
highlight of the programme was the session conducted by Dr. Manjeet
Singh Arora, widely known as the “CPR Man of
India,” and an occupational health expert associated with
Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai. During his session, he demonstrated life-saving First-Aid and
CPR techniques, while also addressing important topics such as
industrial health, stress management, and emergency response preparedness.
The programme
also featured a session by Mrs. Smruti Mukadam, Certified POSH Trainer and Founder of
Effective Mind, who spoke about the Prevention of
Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, workplace ethics, and the
importance of creating a safe and respectful working environment.
In addition
to the training sessions, participants witnessed a live
demonstration on fire safety and the correct use of fire extinguishers,
providing practical insights into handling emergency fire situations effectively.
Various
industry representatives, employers, and employees from MSME units actively
participated in the programme and benefited from the expert guidance and
practical demonstrations. The training helped participants enhance their
understanding of workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and compliance with
health and safety standards.
